Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Professor Sodiq Abubakar Gombe, says the opposition party has provided sufficient evidence before the Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Federal Capital Territory, in the misappropriation and corruption case against the party’s former chairman, Shehu Gabam.

Gombe disclosed this on Monday after the court adjourned the misappropriation case against Gabam to June 17th, 2026.

He said he is confident that the chief magistrate, Amauche Onyedium, would deliver justice on the matter.

The SDP leader insisted on Gabam’s expulsion from the party. He, however, hinted that the chief magistrate had advised both the plaintiff and defendant to explore out-of-court settlement.

“We tendered relevant documents, among which are the report of the disciplinary committee that tried the accused. And after that, also, it involved the letter of invitation that was sent to the accused, the result of the investigation, which they refused to honor.

“Then also we tendered documents of the company that they siphoned and laundered party money through such companies that belong to one of the expelled members of the party. And also some certified documents

“So these are the documents that we presented today. And the court adjourned to the 17th of next month, June 2026,” he told the journalist after the hearing on Monday.

Recall that on May 12, Gabam was arraigned by the FCT Magistrate Court over alleged misappropriation during his time as SDP chairman between 2022 and 2023.

DAILY POST reports that there is a leadership tussle between Gombe and Gabam. However, members of the party at the national convention held in Bauchi on May 9, 2026, ratified Gombe as national chairman.
