The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Obi, has assured the people of Cross River State that the Calabar Port will become fully operational under his administration, alongside other ports across the Niger Delta.

Obi gave the assurance on his verified Facebook page after a town hall meeting in Calabar, which he attended with his running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

He said his administration would make aggressive investments in education, healthcare and other critical areas of development, and lift Nigerians out of poverty. He also pledged to unite and secure the country.

“I also assured the teeming crowd of participants and supporters that, under our stewardship, the Calabar Port would become fully operational, alongside other ports across the Niger Delta,” he said.

On tourism, Obi recalled with nostalgia how Calabar, Obudu and other destinations in Cross River used to be preferred choices for Nigerians and even foreigners.

He pledged to restore Cross River to its pride of place, starting with a personal commitment to spend his holidays at its tourist destinations if elected President.
