I’ll end all forms of criminality as President – Peter Obi

Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has warned that he would not allow any form of criminality if elected President in 2027.
Obi made the remark while noting that fuel subsidy is an organized crime against Nigeria.
Speaking on Trust TV, the new NDC entrant noted that Nigeria shares almost the same size with Pakistan, but the country consumes less fuel when compared to Nigeria.
He said: “Subsidy is organized crime and I won’t allow any form of criminality as the President of Nigeria. The amount of fuel they say we consume cannot be consumed by this country, there’s emperical evidence.
“We are about the same as Pakistan, they have more roads and we probably have the same number of vehicles or they have even more yet their fuel consumption is a third of ours, so who is drinking the balance?”
During the 2023 presidential election, Obi, alongside other presidential candidates, had pledged to remove the subsidy on petroleum products.
President Bola Tinubu, who won the election, ordered the immediate removal of fuel subsidy during his swearing in at the Eagles Square in Abuja.
