HOSTCON Youth lauds NNPC Trading boss, Idrisu, over high performance
The national leadership of the Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas and Pipeline Impacted States Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCON Youth Council), in conjunction with the Board of Trustees, has applauded the Managing Director of NNPC Trading Limited, Mrs. Maryam Idrisu, for her outstanding performance in trading in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
This is even as it commended President Tinubu for appointing Maryam Idrisu based on competence, experience, and proven capacity.
According to the group, under the leadership of Mrs. Maryam Idrisu at NNPC Trading Limited, the dealings and businesses have become more transparent and clearly show the needed leadership and landmark commercial reforms aimed at sanitising, strengthening and repositioning the oil and gas sector of the nation’s economy.
The Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas and Pipeline Impacted States Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCON Youth Council), in conjunction with the Board of Trustees, made this known during the media interactive session convened by its National President of the HOSTCON Youth Council of Nigeria, Snr. Comr. Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder, popularly known as “Gen. Osama,”.
In the statement made available to newsmen and signed by Gen. Osama, the council also recognises Mrs. Maryam Idrisu’s exceptional career spanning over three decades within Nigeria’s petroleum industry, during which she has served in several strategic positions within NNPC and established a credible track record of professionalism, integrity, accountability and exceptional leadership.
The council noted that Mrs. Maryam Idrisu’s appointment by President Tinubu is a reflection of the confidence placed in her competence, experience and proven capacity.
Gen Osama stated that Mrs. Maryam Idrisu has contributed to the strengthening of transparency, accountability and professional standards in crude oil trading and commercial operations, while promoting systems that reduce opacity, enhance confidence and discourage corrupt practices.
“She has also shown capacity at driving improved efficiency in the marketing and commercialisation of Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate resources, with stronger emphasis on value maximisation, efficiency and competitive positioning in the international market.
“Promoting data-driven market research, pricing and valuation strategies designed to ensure that Nigerian crude grades receive appropriate and competitive commercial value in the international market.
“Supporting contract restructuring and commercial optimisation initiatives designed to improve efficiency, strengthen returns and create greater value for NNPC Limited and the Nigerian economy.
“Her appointment to the OPEC Economic Commission Board has further strengthened Nigeria’s voice and strategic participation in international petroleum policy, market deliberations and industry-related engagements.
“Promoting stronger alignment among NNPC Trading Limited, relevant government institutions, regulators and other critical stakeholders in pursuit of a more coordinated, transparent and efficient petroleum trading ecosystem.
“Her commercial leadership has contributed to improved trading performance and revenue optimisation, reinforcing the strategic role of Nigeria’s petroleum resources in supporting national economic stability, he stated.
The HOSTCON Youth Council, after scrutiny, considered these reforms particularly significant because a transparent, efficient and professionally managed oil and gas trading system is essential to protecting national economic interests, strengthening investor confidence and creating a more predictable environment for legitimate stakeholders and major players across the petroleum value chain.
