Zamfara bandits release seven kidnap victims

Seven people who were kidnapped in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State have been released by their captor without any ransom payment.
This was revealed in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Saturday.
According to the report, the victims were found by security operatives during a routine patrol in the Maradun forest on Thursday.
“Among them was a 30-year-old man identified as Nasiru Sani.
“The victims told security officials that they were being held at a place called Bayan Ruwa camp, which is said to be controlled by a notorious bandit leader known as “Jimou Smally,” Makama wrote.
Jimou Smally has been linked to several kidnapping cases in the area.
“Surprisingly, the victims said the bandit kingpin freed them without asking for any ransom or making any demands.
“After their release, they were taken to a nearby security post where they received medical care before being reunited with their families,” Makama added.
While the exact reason for the sudden release is not known, some sources, according to Makama, believed that it may be due to increased military pressure from ongoing operations by troops of Operation FANSAN TANMA in Maradun and surrounding areas.
