The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 786 personnel across the state to ensure a safe, secure, and hitch-free 2025 Christmas and New Year celebration.

The deployment, approved by the State Commandant, Commandant Jibrin Idris, is aimed at protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure throughout the festive period.

Speaking on the exercise, Commandant Idris said the move reflects the Corps’ commitment to public safety during heightened social activities associated with the yuletide.

“This strategic deployment underscores the Command’s commitment to protecting citizens and visitors during the festive period, including critical national assets, both public and private,” he said.

According to him, the operation is being executed under Operational Order No. 7/2025, with effective security coverage scheduled from December 25, 2025, to January 1, 2026.

He explained that Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Tactical Unit Commanders, and sector heads have been directed to ensure adequate security at churches and other places of worship, safeguard lives and property before, during and after the celebrations, protect critical public and private assets, and maintain law and order across the state.

“They have been tasked to ensure robust security at all churches and places of worship, protect the lives and property of citizens and visitors, safeguard critical assets and infrastructure, and maintain law and order throughout the state,” Idris stated.

The Commandant further emphasised the importance of inter-agency collaboration, noting that the NSCDC will work closely with other security agencies to prevent threats and guarantee peaceful festivities.

While extending Christmas goodwill messages to Christians in the state, Idris urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities.

“The safety of worshippers, residents, and visitors is our priority. We call on everyone to cooperate with security personnel and report any concerns promptly,” he said.
