UMU-ABA WORLDWIDE FOUNDATION HOLDS 10KM FITNESS & CHARITY WALK, DISTRIBUTES FOOD AND CASH IN SOLIDARITY WITH GOV. ALEX OTTI
The Umu-Aba Worldwide Foundation on Saturday successfully held its 10KM Fitness and Charity Walk across Aba, Abia State, as a show of solidarity and support for the administration of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.
The well-attended walk brought together Umu-Aba indigenes from home and the diaspora, business leaders, professionals, youths, and community stakeholders, all united in promoting healthy living, charity, and appreciation for good governance.
As part of its humanitarian mission, the Umu-Aba Worldwide Foundation also carried out a food and cash distribution exercise during the walk. Food items and cash were shared to vulnerable residents, beneficiaries, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to practical charity and social inclusion. The outreach underscored the Foundation’s belief that community development must directly touch lives, especially at the grassroots level.
Speaking during the event, the President of Umu-Aba Worldwide Foundation, Amb. Uche Milo, described the walk as a deliberate effort to support transparency, transformation, and people-centered governance in Abia State. He noted that the Foundation remains committed to humanitarian services, community development, and initiatives that uplift the less privileged.
In an interview, Mr. Roseson Francis Obasi (popularly known as Donko) stated that the walk was organized by Umu-Aba sons and daughters worldwide, both at home and in the diaspora to give back to the community that raised them and to publicly identify with the visible progress recorded under Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
“This 10KM fitness and charity walk is our way of showing Governor Alex Otti that Umu-Aba Worldwide Foundation stands solidly behind him, irrespective of social media propaganda or opposition narratives. We are not a political organization; we are a charity organization born and bred in Aba. Since 1999, it has never been this good,” he said.
According to him, the Foundation walked over 40,300 steps across Aba as a symbol of encouragement for the Governor to continue his transformational work, stressing that Abians desire revolution, success, and sustainable progress and that such progress is already visible.
He further highlighted that the Foundation supports education, infrastructure, skills acquisition, and humanitarian causes, irrespective of ethnicity or background, reaffirming its commitment to giving hope to the hopeless and support to the less privileged.
Also speaking, Sir Ositini, CEO of Ositini Bathrooms, described Governor Alex Otti as “the number one governor in Nigeria today”, praising his efforts in restoring Aba’s pride and reviving its economic potential.
“Aba used to be the pride of Igboland, factories everywhere, brilliant minds, champions across the world. Unfortunately, Aba declined over the years. By God’s grace, Governor Alex Otti came and changed the narrative. This charity walk is to tell him we appreciate his good work and to encourage Umu-Aba across the world to return and invest in Aba,” he stated.
Sir Ositini emphasized that Aba is now secure, investor-friendly, and open for business, urging indigenes in the diaspora to bring investments back home.
In another interview, Mr. Ugochukwu Nnadi Duru, also known as Brown Sugar, Obi Ndi Igbo in South Africa, and National Patron, IMOLITE South Africa, stated that the walk was not about blind political loyalty but about acknowledging measurable impact and effective governance.
“We are here to commemorate results. I am a baby born and bred in Aba. I don’t need to personally know the Governor his work speaks for him. Umu-Aba in Lagos, Abuja, and the diaspora are bringing investments back home because the environment is now right,” he said.
Drawing historical parallels, he recalled Aba’s legacy of resistance and leadership, referencing the Aba Women’s Protest of 1929, and stressed that true governance must prioritize the poor and vulnerable.
When asked what specifically warranted the Foundation’s support for the Governor, Mr. Duru cited major road infrastructure projects, including the transformation of Port Harcourt Road, noting how improved infrastructure has significantly increased property value and economic opportunities for ordinary citizens.
“This government has taken up the case of the poor masses. That is why we cannot stay away when a good man is doing good,” he concluded.
The Umu-Aba Worldwide Foundation reiterated that the 10KM Fitness & Charity Walk was both a humanitarian initiative and a strong statement of solidarity, reaffirming its resolve to continue supporting initiatives that promote development, unity, and shared prosperity in Abia State.
