Tales of two different lawmakers in Abia State – Mr Roseson Obasi Donko

“As a youth advocate, community leader, and true son of Abiriba in Ohafia LGA of Abia State, I have always believed that leadership is a sacred responsibility. It is not a privilege to be abused, nor a title to be worn for prestige. Leadership is a covenant between the elected and the people whose hopes, sweat, and trust place them in office.

Today, I write not out of bitterness, not in political allegiance, and not with the intent to drag anyone down, but with a deep, sincere concern for my people of Abiriba and the entire Ohafia LGA.

A Tale of Two Representatives. A Heartbreaking Contrast
In recent weeks, I have taken time to observe and analyze the activities of our elected representatives, particularly those serving their first term under the Labour Party banner ( The state Ruling Party).

On one side, we see Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.

The first set of images making the rounds online show a man who understands the weight of public trust.
His second empowerment program, like the first, reflects vision, intentionality, and genuine commitment to the people he serves. His actions demonstrate that a leader does not need a second term before proving impact—service begins immediately when love for the people is real.

On the other hand, the next set of images show Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, representing Ohafia–Arochukwu Federal Constituency (My Constituency)
And what we have seen is not just disappointing it is heartbreaking. While his colleague in the same party is raising the bar of representation, uplifting communities, and restoring confidence in public office, our own representative seems to be doing the exact opposite.

The stark contrast exposes one painful truth, The Otti/Obi wave brought us progress in many places, but in our constituency, it also brought into power individuals who neither understand our pain nor respect our dignity.

Giving Honour to Whom It Is Due
We must pause and appreciate our remarkable Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, whose leadership has become a model for visionary governance. His commitment to infrastructure, security, transparency, and human capital development continues to inspire young leaders like myself. His work reminds us that leadership is not complicated when the heart is right, the people will feel it.

We must also celebrate Hon. Amobi Ogah, who has shown that Labour Party’s promise of a new Nigeria is not just a slogan. It lives in leaders who choose to serve, not to take.
Thank you, sir, for proving that representation still has meaning.

A Direct Message to Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, with all due respect, your pattern of representation raises serious concerns about how you see us- your own people.
Your recent actions do not reflect growth.
They do not inspire hope.
They do not reflect a desire for progress.

When you reduce empowerment to humiliating tokens, handed to vulnerable, elderly women who deserve far better, you are not empowering them. You are mocking what our people stand for.
You are reducing your office to a caricature and eroding the very trust that gave you that seat.

Let it be clear-
Abiriba people are not beggars.
Ohafia people are not a people to be mocked. Our mothers are not props for political comedy.

We will no longer tolerate leadership that lacks empathy.

We will no longer entertain representation that insults our collective intelligence.

We will no longer accept mediocrity dressed as empowerment.

You were elected to lift our people, not to ridicule them.

It is not too late to change course.
It is not too late to lead with dignity.
It is not too late to remember that every

mandate has an expiry date but the reputation you leave behind lives forever.

And to My People
Leadership is not a favour; it is a duty. And as a constituency, we must continue to speak up. We must encourage the good and call out the wrong—firmly, respectfully, and truthfully.

I will continue to stand for my people. My loyalty is to the growth of our people, and the future of Ndi Abia.
May this remind every leader, present and future that the people are watching, and history is recording..
