Li Fuyan, a 30-year-old man from Yunnan Province, had suffered from recurring headaches, bad breath, and breathing difficulties for four years, all without knowing why.

His symptoms worsened until he finally underwent medical imaging, which revealed something no one expected: a rusted four-inch knife blade lodged deep in his skull, just behind his throat. Miraculously, it had missed critical structures like the carotid artery and windpipe.

Li recalled being stabbed in the jaw during a robbery years earlier, but he had no idea the blade had broken off and remained in his head.

Surgeons at Yuxi City People’s Hospital cautiously extracted the heavily corroded blade without shattering it, a feat one neurosurgeon called a “miracle.” Experts noted that the knife had passed through natural tissue planes, avoiding major vessels by sheer luck.
