Speaker Emeruwa Raises Alarm Over Erosion Threat in Ebem Ohafia.

The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, has expressed deep concern over the escalating environmental challenges in Ebem Ohafia, located in Ohafia Local Government Area of the state.

The erosion menace, according to reports, now poses a serious threat to the palace of the paramount ruler of the Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, as well as seven other critical sites in the community.Describing the situation as alarming and deserving of urgent intervention, the Speaker emphasized the need for swift government action to prevent further damage and safeguard the heritage and livelihoods of the people.

In a move to address the issue, Speaker Emeruwa has directed the Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke, to lead an on-the-spot assessment of the affected erosion sites. The visit is expected to provide firsthand insight into the scale of devastation and inform necessary legislative and executive interventions.

Residents of Ebem Ohafia are hopeful that the Speaker’s prompt response will catalyze lasting solutions to the environmental degradation that has plagued the area for years.
