Nigeria to Take Delivery of Dry Lease Aircraft After Nearly 20 Years

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), has announced that Nigeria will officially take delivery of dry lease aircraft on October 6, 2025. This marks the first such acquisition in almost two decades.

A dry lease arrangement provides an airline with only the bare aircraft, while the lessee assumes full responsibility for operations. This includes hiring and managing crew, overseeing maintenance, and securing insurance for the aircraft.
Mr. Keyamo noted that the development represents a significant step forward in Nigeria’s aviation sector, aimed at enhancing efficiency, safety, and the overall competitiveness of the industry.
