Nigeria Surpasses OPEC Crude Oil Production Quota for Second Time in 2025

For the second time this year, Nigeria has exceeded its crude oil production quota set by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), reaching an average of 1,505,474 barrels per day (bpd) in June 2025. This figure slightly surpasses the country’s official OPEC quota of 1.5 million bpd.

The data, released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), signifies a 100.4% compliance rate, indicating steady recovery in Nigeria’s crude oil production following months of output challenges.
When condensates, hydrocarbon liquids excluded from OPEC quotas are included, Nigeria’s total oil production for June climbed to approximately 1.7 million bpd, a marked improvement over recent months and a sign of growing stability in the sector.
This achievement reflects ongoing efforts by the government and industry stakeholders to enhance production capacity, combat oil theft, and restore investor confidence in Nigeria’s energy sector.
Further updates will be provided as the industry continues to show positive momentum.
