Kwara NSCDC arrests three rail line vandals

Three suspects allegedly connected with vandalization and theft of railway clips and nuts along the railway line in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, have been arrested by state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC.

An official of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, first apprehended Mosahudu Salisu, 18, on Friday, 28th November 2025, at Adeleke area Offa, while attempting to transport alleged stolen railway clips and nuts on his motorcycle and was handed over to the NSCDC division, Offa.

Spokesman of the command, Ayoola Michael Shola, said, “Following further investigation, the division uncovered additional accomplices and arrested them.

He identified the suspects as Hassan Abu, 19 years, alleged to be the principal suspect who participated in the vandalisation of the rail line, Mosahudu Salisu, 18 years, the buyer/receiver of the stolen items and Abubakar Mohammed, 35 years, the intermediary who facilitated the transaction between the vandals and the buyer.

All suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigators with relevant information.

While parading the suspects on Tuesday, the State Commandant, Dr Umar Mohammed, condemned the criminal act, describing the vandalisation of railway infrastructure as a serious threat to national economic growth and public safety.

He commended the operatives of the Offa Division for their professionalism, dedication, and coordinated intelligence efforts that led to the arrests.

Commandant Umar, reaffirmed the corps’ resolve to protect critical national assets across the state and assured that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

He urged residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance public safety.
