Kwankwaso hails Kwankwasiyya’s Kano political dominance

From Desmond Mgboh, Kano
The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has insisted that his political bloc remains the strongest and most powerful political group in Kano State, bearing in mind his investment in education and skills acquisition.
He made the claim at the 2nd combined convocation ceremony of the Northwest University, Kano, where he was honoured with an honorary Doctorate degree of Education (Honoris Causa).
Kwankwaso, who heads the Kwankwasiyya bloc in the state, maintained that every politician operating with the philosophy of the Movement is sure of getting the support of the masses.
He recalled how he founded the two state-owned universities in Kano—Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, and the Northwest University—when he was Governor of Kano State, insisting that the human capital investments have made his bloc the popular political platform any politician can use to actualise his political dreams in the state and across the North.
He expressed delight at the fact that most of the beneficiaries of his scholarship scheme are lecturers in various higher institutions in Kano and across the country.
He therefore advised governors to invest in education and human capital.
In his remarks, the Visitor of the University, Abba Kabir Yusuf, regretted that the Ganduje administration destroyed all the legacies laid by the emancipation of education in the state, but promised to revitalise education at all levels and keep the dreams and legacies of the Kwankwasiyya Movement alive.
Yusuf further promised to complete all abandoned infrastructural projects in the University.
The Emir of Lafia Bare-Bari, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I, was decorated as the Chancellor of the university during the convocation ceremony.
Other eminent Nigerians who were awarded honorary Doctorate degrees include the late Kano-born business mogul, Aminu Alhassan Dantata; mother of Aliko Dangote, Mariya Sunusi Dantata, who received an honorary Doctorate of Humanities; Aliyu Sa’idu Bebeji, who received an honorary Doctorate degree of Entrepreneurship; and Adamu Yahaya Maikifi, honorary Doctorate of Entrepreneurship.
