Jumai Adamu sweeps TYB Lady captain election
Jumai Hajara Adamu has been elected the new Lady Captain of the Tukur Yusuf Buratai (TYB) International Golf Resort and Country Club, Abuja, recording a resounding landslide victory in the club’s election at the clubhouse.
Adamu swept the polls with an emphatic 129 votes, leaving her closest challengers far behind. Rose Abus Nyam garnered 22 votes, while the outgoing Lady Captain, Maureen Apute, secured 26 votes, a result that underscored the depth of support for Adamu among the club’s female members.
The outcome was greeted with applause and excitement across the clubhouse, as members described the decisive margin as a strong affirmation of Adamu’s leadership vision, credibility, and commitment to fostering unity within the ladies’ section.
Reacting after the official declaration of results, Adamu attributed her victory to divine intervention, expressing gratitude to God and appreciation to members who entrusted her with the responsibility.
“I return all the glory to God Almighty. This victory is His doing, and I am deeply grateful to every member who believed in me,” she said.
The newly elected Lady Captain assured members of an inclusive and purposeful administration, pledging to prioritise unity, collaboration, and excellence among female golfers at the club.
“With God’s guidance, I will serve diligently, promote unity, and ensure that every lady golfer feels valued and inspired,” she added.
Adamu also paid tribute to her predecessor, Maureen Apute, acknowledging her contributions and the foundations laid during her tenure, which she said would be strengthened and expanded upon.
