According to sources close to the senator, the request was made in anticipation of the heightened political activities expected as the Senate reconvenes. Senator Natasha, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, expressed concern for her personal safety and the need for full security cover to carry out her legislative duties effectively.

Despite these appeals, the Nigeria Police Force has remained silent on the matter, with no official communication made to the senator or her office regarding the reinstatement of her protection. The move has sparked speculation and concern among civil society groups and political observers who view it as a potential act of political intimidation or bias.

Senator Natasha, a vocal advocate for good governance and women’s political inclusion, has faced various challenges since assuming office, including attempts to delegitimize her electoral victory. Her camp has described the refusal to provide police protection as “deliberate neglect” and a “threat to democratic representation.”

Calls have been made to the IGP to reconsider the decision and ensure equal treatment of all elected officials, regardless of political affiliations.

As of the time of this release, the Nigeria Police Force has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
