The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced the tracking of 72 constituency projects valued at N16.3 billion across the three senatorial districts of Kogi State.

The Assistant Commissioner of the Commission, Wale David, disclosed this on Saturday in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

David said the exercise is aimed at ensuring that the projects were executed in accordance with due process and are delivering tangible benefits to the people.

According to him, the commission will also investigate abandoned projects and those allegedly executed below standard.

He stated that contractors responsible for substandard work would be compelled to return to site and rectify identified defects, while intervention programmes would be assessed to verify beneficiaries and evaluate the quality of implementation.

The ICPC official revealed that the monitoring exercise began in Lokoja with the inspection of the N6.2 billion Federal Secretariat Complex project and the N6.4 billion Inland River Port project.

He added that the tracking exercise would be extended to all 21 local government areas of Kogi State.

The commission said the initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability in public procurement and to ensure that residents of Kogi State benefit from federally funded projects.
