FCT poll: Kwali APC chairmanship primaries a charade – Aspirant

Hon Usman Jiya, a Chairmanship Aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has described last Wednesday’s primaries of the party in the area council as a charade.

Jiya, who addressed his supporters at his campaign office in Kwali on Monday, also described the declaration of Nuhu Daniel as “kangaroo declaration.”

He said no chairmanship primaries took place, saying he expected that, a chairmanship candidate should have emerged through affirmation.

“The report we have on ground clearly shows that the declaration of my opponent Nuhu Daniel as the party’s chairmanship flag bearer is a kangaroo declaration. Because of the are declaring a candidate, it must simply be on affirmation as no delegates that voted during primary election.

“So as far as we are concerned, we are part of the election because we are not informed or invited. We only heard that there is primary election going on somewhere, while even the person they confirmed as the party’s chairmanship candidate didn’t even have the delegates form,” he said.

He, however, questioned how members of the electoral committee got the delegates list to conduct the primaries instead of using the original delegates list.

“And far as there was no chairmanship primaries in Kwali area council, there must be election to produce somebody on the platform of APC that will contest for the February 21, 2026 election in Kwali,” he said.

The APC chairmanship aspirant, while calling on members of the party and his supporters to remain calm and peaceful, called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to do justice by addressing the matter.

Jiya, therefore, expressed confidence that the national secretariat of APC will ensure that justice, equity and fairness prevails.
