FCT Police Arrest Man Over Tragic Death of 3-Year-Old in Durumi

Police operatives from the Durumi Divisional Headquarters under the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have arrested one Mr. Philip Jallo in connection with the tragic death of a 3-year-old boy who drowned in an uncovered septic tank in the Durumi 2 area of Abuja.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred when the young child accidentally fell into the exposed tank, which was allegedly left unsecured on Mr. Jallo’s premises. The child was confirmed dead shortly after being pulled out of the tank by local responders.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrest, stating that Mr. Jallo is currently in custody while investigations continue to determine the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident.

“The Command is committed to ensuring justice for the deceased and his family,” SP Adeh said. “We urge all residents and property owners to take necessary safety precautions to avoid similar tragedies.”The body of the boy has been deposited at a local morgue for autopsy. Authorities are also in touch with the victim’s family to offer support during this difficult time.

The FCT Police Command has reiterated its commitment to enforcing safety standards in residential areas and called on the public to report unsafe environmental conditions to the appropriate authorities.
