Don’t project personal failures on Hilda Baci – Actor Patrick Doyle tells critics

By John Ogunsemore
Veteran actor and broadcaster, Patrick Doyle has cautioned against unwarranted criticism of chef, Hilda Baci.
He stated this in a Facebook post as Hilda Baci attempts to make the world’s largest dish of jollof rice.
Thousands of youths have besieged the venue of the record attempt taking place at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with many more following online.
However, some critics said the record attempt distracts the youths from “worthwhile” causes.
Reacting, Doyle said the criticism was unwarranted since Hilda Baci was only following her professional calling.
The actor said, “To those scoffing at Hilda Bassey’s latest culinary feat and belittling it as a distraction, I have this to say.
“Rather than gripe about how Hilda’s stunts distracts youths from more ‘worthwhile pursuits,’ why don’t they come up with their own ‘worthwhile’ schemes to point our youth in the right direction.
“For crying out loud, the young lady is a chef. Where else do you expect her to express her creativity? Is it in fintech, robotics, or aeronautics ? Pray tell.
“This unwarranted projection of personal failures on young creatives like Hilda is sickening.”
Doyle congratulated Hilda Baci “for pushing the boundaries of her chosen field” and recommended her pioneering spirit to all Nigerian youths in every field of human endeavour.
