Cultists behead 30-year-old man in Bayelsa

A 30-year-old man, simply identified as Ebi, has been beheaded by suspected members of Bobos cult group at Yenegue axis of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

It was gathered that Ebi, popularly known as ‘Npotor’, meaning ‘noise’ in local parlance, had gone to the Yenegue community, said to be controlled by the Bobos cult group, where he was held, tied up in an abandoned building and beheaded.

The deceased was said to be a member of Greenlanders cult group, a rival of the Bobos, which controls Igbogene axis of Yenagoa.

Security sources told newsmen that the deceased’s body was found naked, with hands tied and the head missing.

Residents of the area, who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity, said the two rival cult groups have been engaged in a simmering beef in the area.

“The boy was said to have gone to Yenegue, an area controlled by the Bobos. He was taken and tied and beheaded.” a source said.

The Igbogene Divisional Police Officer had been deployed to the area to evacuate the body.

Police spokesman in Bayelsa State, DSP Musa Muhammad, who confirmed the killing, said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspects.
