CENTRAL NAVAL COMMAND COMMENCES BI-ANNUAL SMALL ARMS EXERCISE AND RANGE CLASSIFICATION

On Tuesday, 16 September 2025, the Central Naval Command, under the leadership of the Flag Officer Commanding, Rear Admiral Ahmad Aliyu Gaya, commenced its Second Bi-Annual Small Arms Firing Exercise and Range Classification 2025 at the Nigerian Army’s 343 Artillery Regiment Shooting Range in Elele, Rivers State.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, the Commander Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), Rear Admiral Noel Madugu, stressed that proficiency in weapons handling is indispensable to the Nigerian Navy’s operational effectiveness.

He further highlighted that in today’s rapidly evolving security environment, countering emerging threats requires the deployment of personnel equipped with sound knowledge and skills in weapons handling.

Rear Admiral Madugu therefore urged all participants to maximise the opportunities provided by the exercise, noting that “no battle can be prosecuted or won without such foundational proficiency.”
