Reactions have continued to trail the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in a London hospital on Sunday afternoon.
For Katsina State Governor Umaru Dikko Radda, who has since proclaimed Monday a work-free day in the area, “as we mourn this irreparable loss, we must also celebrate a life well-lived in service to humanity.
“President Buhari’s legacy of putting people first will continue to inspire generations of leaders.
“Nigeria has lost a patriot, Katsina has lost its most illustrious son, and I have lost a father figure whose footsteps I have endeavoured to follow.
“President Buhari was not just a leader; he was the embodiment of the common man’s aspirations. His people-oriented programmes and genuine love for the masses defined his leadership philosophy.
“From his early days as a military leader to his transformative presidency, President Buhari never forgot his roots. He remained connected to the soil of Katsina and the hearts of its people. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void in our collective consciousness.”
A foremost human rights advocate and Chairman of the Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Katsina State, Comrade Abdul Abdullahi, said, “Buhari believed in democracy, and we pray that his soul rests in peace.
“His passing is a reminder to all of us that life is transient, and we should be mindful of the Day of Judgment.
“He will be remembered for the good and the bad during his leadership of the country. He believed and respected the fundamental rights of people, and he believed in democracy, and he was upright.”
And, for Kabir Ibrahim, National President, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Buhari did not amass wealth while he lived.
According to him, “we pray that his soul rests in perfect peace and that Nigerians will borrow a leaf from the integrity that he has left behind.
“He did not amass wealth because I am sure he died, leaving nothing behind except his integrity.”
And, according to Isa Abubakar, National President, Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, Buhari dedicated his life to Nigeria’s development.
He said, “The late President Muhammadu Buhari was a patriotic Nigerian who devoted his entire life to rendering services for the development of our country.
“He was an exceptional human being, and he was holy; he did not believe in acquiring so much wealth. His demise will leave a very big gap, and it may take some time to get people to fill the gap. We pray that God gives him a place in Paradise. People should emulate his leadership style for the development of our country.”
