2027: Kogi youths donate ₦100m to procure APC presidential nomination form for Tinubu

Abuja – In a historic show of youth support, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday received a ₦100 million donation from youths of Kogi State to fund the procurement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for the 2027 general election.

The cheque was handed over at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, with National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, describing the gesture as unprecedented and symbolic of growing confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.

Professor Yilwatda praised the Kogi youths for their commitment, noting that their contribution was driven by a desire to support the President’s continuity in office rather than personal gain. He highlighted improvements in the economy, national indicators, and security in Kogi State as motivating factors.

“The youths are not seeking appointments or favors. This is a clear demonstration of patriotism and political consciousness,” Professor Yilwatda said, adding that the donation effectively secured the President’s nomination form, eliminating the need for further fundraising.

He further lauded President Tinubu’s focus on youth inclusion, noting that numerous young Nigerians have been appointed to strategic leadership roles across the military, public service, and party structures. “This administration has redefined youths not as leaders of tomorrow, but as leaders of today,” he said.

Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State, who was present at the event, commended the President for his leadership and the unprecedented opportunities created for young people under his administration.

The Kogi State Youth Leader, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, assured APC leadership that the youths had also made contingency arrangements to cover any potential increase in the cost of the nomination form.

Professor Yilwatda also emphasized the APC’s commitment to inclusiveness, pointing out that the party had reduced the cost of nomination forms by nearly 50 percent compared to previous election cycles to enable broader participation, particularly by youths and women.

The APC described the donation as a strong vote of confidence in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and a signal of growing grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.

Signed: Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser to the National Chairman of APC (Media and Communications Strategy), February 24, 2026.
